“I’m Home—Beaufort Waterfront and the Meka II”
$21 –
Boxed set of 10 note cards and envelopes
There
is no better way to portray Beaufort than from the sea—the same view
boaters see today that ship captains hundreds
of years ago saw when they sailed into North Carolina's third oldest
town. The Meka II, launched in 1967, was built by Captain
Horatio Sinbad. The ship is a 54', half-scale replica of a 17th
century, two-masted pirate brigantine armed with six cannons.
When he saw his ship portrayed, Captain Sinbad reacted, "I feel as if
I'm actually ON my ship in the painting, I'm arriving back into
port after a long journey—and I'm home"—thus naming the painting.
The artist gratefully acknowledges the
use of a photograph of the Meka II taken by Scott Taylor.
This note card is a cropped version of
print of “I’m Home—Beaufort Waterfront and the Meka II”. The back of
the note card includes an image of the full panorama, the above text and
information on ordering prints.
